George Clooney on the witness stand
On Friday, George Clooney maintained his aura of cool that is his trademark as he wowed the audience when he was place on the witness stand. He delivered a few of devilish grins while boosting a few wise cracks as he testified against the three defendants who were accused of co-opting his name for the main purpose of launching their own fashion line.
Clooney keeps a villa on the nearby Lake Como and is rarely seen in public in Milan set the courthouse into a celebrity tilt. He had to push his way through a sea of cameras just to get into the court room. Inside the court room, it was packed wall to wall with fans. It was so bad at one point that the judge had to repeatedly ask them to quiet down. In fact, one woman was tossed out of the court room for taking a photograph of Clooney.
Clooney, a forty-nine-year-old, wore a stylish navy blue suit with a crisp white shirt and red spotted blue tie. He had to use an interpreter and apologized for his lack of being able to speak Italian fluently. He testified that the photographs shown to him were the two defendants and the signatures were doctored and forged on the documents shown to him.
Vincenzo Cannalire, one of the defendants, did attend the trail. Clooney greet him after recognizing the man from of the photos he was looking at, by saying that this was the first time this was the first time he had ever seen him. The other two charged in this case with criminal fraud are Vanja Goffi and Francesco Galdelli.
