Alphonse Mucha A Master Painter
Mucha's style of painting has influenced an entire generation of painters, draftsmen, designers, and graphic artists. In the minds of many, his work is the epitome of what Art Nouveau truly means. In his life, he came to truly resent his fame as an artist of the utilitarian, because he believed that true art should only be elevated and epic.

Mucha was raised in an atmosphere of strict Roman Catholicism, which would later be reflected in the symbolism he employed in his work. In 1871, he joined the choir at St. Peter's Cathedral in Brno, where he attended school. He pursued singing seriously for a while, but was forced to abandon it after his voice started cracking in 1875, which is when Mucha turned his attention to drawing.
In 1877, he applied to the Academy of Visual Arts in Prague, but was unable to gain admission, which did not discourage him and he continued his drawing classes. In 1879, he got a job in Vienna as an assistant in a firm that made stage sets, which is where he gained familiarity with theater and the art of interior decoration. In 1882, he was laid off after a fire in the Burg Theater put the firm in financial straits.
Alphonse Mucha felt confident enough at this point to take up portrait painting. He moved back to Moravia and he met Count Karl Khuen-Belassi who commissioned him to decorate the Emmahof Castle. The Count was so impressed with Mucha's work that he agreed to sponsor the artist's formal education. In 1884, after touring northern Italy and Austria with his patron, the painter entered the Academy of Visual Arts in Milan.
The famous Czech artist is being sought by many people on the internet today since it is his birthday even despite the fact that this great artist is not with us today. Many people remember Alphonse Mucha for his works. He died at the age of seventy-eight in 1939.
